Business School Math Review

Introduction

At the A. Gary Anderson School of Management, as at many business schools, incoming students who have not taken a calculus and statistics class within ten years need to either pass a waiver exam or take a remedial math class (MGT 403) in their first term. I am one of the students affected and I would much rather pass the exam than have to take an extra class, particularly a night class. Thus, I have been reviewing all of the points on the official syllabus.

It occurred to me that I might as well post my review notes here in the hopes that they would be useful to other students–either at AGSM or at other schools. I hope you find this information helpful. Please remember, though, that (as of summer 2012) I have not taken the waiver exam myself. All of the information here was extracted from old textbooks I found in the UCR libraries. I would suggest that you read through this site to find out in which areas you need to review further, then study your own old textbooks.
